Cluj Protests Long Lines at Polls, Romanian Protests Abroad Met With Force

Residents of Cluj-Napoca have taken to the streets again, this time in response to reports of long lines at polling stations around the country, sometimes hours long.

The protesters claim that the government under Ponta has tampered with polling stations, intentionally driving voters away from the polls.

The protests have been peaceful, with local police patrolling the march's perimeter and towing behind the march by a few yards.

Meanwhile there are reports that Romanians residing in countries like Germany, France and Italy, have taken to the streets as well, and have been met with force by local police there.

The latest polls put Victor Ponta and challenger Klaus Iohannis in a dead heat. A poll released at 6:00pm put Victor Ponta at 50.6 % and Klaus Iohannis at 49.4 %.

Updates to come.
